Rick Santorums Religious Environmentalism Gaffe. Because the issue won't let him tell the truth.

The continuous outrageous claims of Rick Santorum usually leave me to ignore the articles and comments of all things Rick. Its easy enough to do. All I have to hear is a few key words, or some sound bites.

Incredulous political pundits and their tones of voice are enough to keep me from getting wrapped up in Ricks World.

This week its a little different. He's talking environmentalism. Religious environmentalism.

Like everything else, he's bucking the trend of knowing what he's talking about. It's really a shame, because when it comes to environmentalism, this administration could be no further from  religious idealism when talking about nature and the valuable resources that we as citizens own.

If it wasn't for a little thing called hypocrisy of idealism's he could be scoring mega points!

But Rick can't tell you the truth!

It exposes partisan hypocrecy! Of the Republicans AND the Obama administration!

The issue of religious environmentalism misses the mark. It's Free Market environmentalism.

Privatization. Commodity creation. Wealth generating Eco-capitalism. For Wall St 1%ers.

Republicans seem to really like privatization! Prisons, Highways, SSI, Medicaid, you name it, they like it! And they LOVE Wall St!

Democrats oppose privatization of anything, right? Goes against the moral grain. I thought.

It turns out almost everything, but not quite everything.

As the Obama administration does exactly what Republicans love, privatize, in this case the citizens resource, fish, they are doing exactly what the progressive base oppose's! They are creating a trade-able Wall St commodity for Wall St traders, and investment opportunity for huge multi national corporations to swallow up the last of the Mohican's, in this case U S fishermen.

Rick finds himself in a perfect situation to expose the Obama administration as the environmental profiteer capitalists they really are, but as a capitalist, he can't! He would expose himself as a hypocrite!

Which brings up another hypocrisy, the Obama administration and it's free market environmentalist cabinet support of the Wall St 1%!

Environmentalism is a broad philosophy, ideology[1][2][3] and social movement regarding concerns for environmental conservation and improvement of the health of the environment, particularly as the measure for this health seeks to incorporate the concerns of non-human elements. Environmentalism advocates the preservation, restoration and/or improvement of the natural environment, and may be referred to as a movement to control pollution.[4] For this reason, concepts such as a Land Ethic, Environmental Ethics, Biodiversity, Ecology and the Biophilia hypothesisfigure predominantly. At its crux, environmentalism is an attempt to balance relations between humanity and their broader organismic and biogeochemical milieu in such a way that all the components are accorded a proper degree of respect. The exact nature of this balance is controversial and there are many different ways for environmental concerns to be expressed in practice. Environmentalism and environmental concerns are often represented by the color green,[5] but this association has been appropriated by the marketing industries and is a key tactic in the art of Greenwashing.

Free market environmentalism is a theory that argues that the free market, property rights, and tort law provide the best tools to preserve the health and sustainability of the environment. It considers environmental stewardship to be natural, as well as the expulsion of polluters and other aggressors through individual and class action.[30]

Evangelical environmentalism is an environmental movement in the United States in which some Evangelicals have emphasized biblical mandates concerning humanity's role as steward and subsequent responsibility for the caretaking of Creation. While the movement has focused on different environmental issues, it is best known for its focus of addressing climate action from a biblically grounded theological perspective. The Evangelical Climate Initiative argues that human-induced climate change will have severe consequences and impact the poor the hardest, and that God's mandate to Adam to care for the Garden of Eden also applies to evangelicals today, and that it is therefore a moral obligation to work to mitigate climate impacts and support communities in adapting to change.[31]

The sad part of this situation is that there are a number of experiencedmembers of the GOP that could school Mr. Santorum on this issue, but, there appears to be a disconnect between he, and his party. Hell. There are Democrats that work in bi partisan fashion along side of them that have serious issues with the administration regarding free market environmentalism. They realize it will hurt their constituents, whom they serve. In this case consumers, and producers, and the community's they live in. The 99%.

I do watch msnbc at times. I saw the stunned looks of Chris Todd, Andrea Mitchell, and the rest, when they bought up the religious environmental issue while on the air. They were astounded, as was I.

And once again, disappointed.

One thought I had is the unfortunate but seemingly unavoidable intertwining of corporatism and environmentalism.

What gaffe?

"There is a type of theological secularism when it comes to the global warmists in this country. That's what he was referring to. He was referring to the president's policies in terms of the radical Islamic policies the president has," Stewart said on "Andrea Mitchell Reports."

That was Santorum's spokeswoman just this past weekend explaining that she really meant to say "radical environmental policies" but instead she said "radical Islamic policies". I find it hard almost impossible to "mispeak" about the presidents "radical Islamic policies" - when he doesn't have any, and the conversation with Mitchell was on the environment!

You can't believe a word coming from Santorum or anyone around him...they'll say ANYTHING to get attention and spread fear and MORE than anything to get elected once nominated!

What he said yesterday is no different than what he's been saying all along...he wants god/religion to be the deciding factor in what goes on in America.

Ok. What about what I said today..

He could not describe thisadministrations environmental agenda in the correct context.

I also pointed out that this administration is privatizing a resource, and creating a Wall St commodity. For the 1%.

Well that was why I posted my first comment, to demonstrate that this is no gaffe. His spokesperson said that the presidents "radical environmental policies" were in fact "radical Islamic policies" - as crazy as that sounds, that is what she said. Of course Santorum can't explain Obama's policies, he cant explain ANY policies unless he interjects god, or says Muslim. The man is crazy and so is everyone around him. End of story.

The environment isn't popular with voters. Pathetic -- but I believe that's what the polls say. We have fishermen in our home and we worry too. People seem to believe that the environment is an infinite resource! It's hard to juxtapose Obama with Santorum because Santorum is such a loon.

I think the environment is an isuue with many voters but because all the politicians are in the hip pockets of the corporations - that conversation gets droned out. There's another article on the Vine right now...

"NASA: Earth Is Losing Half A Trillion Tons Of Ice A Year"...

Santorum would argue this is "gods will" and in the same breath claim there's no science to back it up.

But Rick can't tell you the truth!

Sadly, he is telling you his brand of truth. Rick is a Dominionist and he believes God put man on this Earth to rule over everything. It's a religious doctrine that Dominionists use on a regular basis to justify raping the planet.

Yep. I wrote an article today about something similar as this. The thing with the Dominionist agenda of the GOP is that it weakens the entire political process. With no one to really oppose Obama, he will (or maybe already has) figured out that the checks and balances are gone. This will eventually lead to the total collapse of the political process in the US unless something is done about it soon.

You see this in other countries when, say, the Liberals are in power for two or three terms and they become arrogant. They get voted out and the Conservatives take power. That's checks and balances. With a theocratic party and only one other significant party to oppose them, suddenly the checks and balances are gone.

Obama in all honesty, would probably be considered a Conservative in most other countries.

Yeah. talk about mood swings!

I am disgusted with the hypocrisy.

Rick is predicating the selection of our next president on an entirely false premise. It should be some kind of treason because it definitely betrays the people of the US.

Painting the Obama administration as uber environmentalists after the oil spill cover up and leasing a good part of the arctic to oil drilling is a bit of a stretch even for Rick.

I think the worst part of politics now is that the bastards are so sold out to the wealthy that they can't even have an honest argument about anything. It's like they all have a hand wearing a rolex up their ass making them talk.
