The Democratic blogosphere is simply agog at the notion that there was no Senate debate here last night — and they seem intent on blaming incumbent Scott Brown. The fact that his challenger, Elizabeth Warren, sent in her cancellation moments later seems not to matter much.
In fact, the one thing these two agreed on was that, as Warren’s campaign put it Monday, “Elizabeth believes the focus now must be on public safety and ensuring people get the help they need during the storm and its aftermath.”
But as the sun began to appear on Tuesday, the “professor,” as Brown delights in calling Warren, issued a statement saying that Thursday night was clear on her schedule.
Yes, some 300,000 households are still without power and wouldn’t be able to watch it anyway. And more than a few are distracted by the flooding in their basements and the trees down on the street.
In fact, Brown spent yesterday inspecting storm damage from Rehoboth to Plum Island — it’s what incumbents do. Warren’s campaign did not release an official schedule.
